Hallo All!!

It has been a while since I have last let you know what I have been up to. This is because I have been in Bechterdissen, the town of my mother's childhood, where many of my relatives live for the past week and a bit. There is always something going on here, so my time for writing has been kind of limited.
I got to Bechterdissen on August 16. at three in the afternoon after a 6 hour train ride. It doesn't actually take that long to get there, but I took the slow trains to save money, so it took extra long. It was super hot that day and I was glad to arrive.
Oma had lunch waiting for me and right after that I went swimming with my cousins and their youth group.
One of my cousins is getting married on Saturady, Aug 29., so we have spent a lot of time getting things ready for this occasion. It seems like there is always another and another thing that needs to be done.
The weather has been very nice though and we even slept outside under the stares one night. We have played lots of Settlers and I am having a wonderful time. Being here with my family always feels like coming home, and I am so excited that I get to be here for the wedding.
My host family, the one that I am working for is in holidays at the moment, for two weeks, so it worked out great that I can be here these two weeks befor the wedding.
Well, I am going to head out for a run now, here it is pretty flat compared to Sinsheim, so my run should be easier!!
I mightnot write very much in the next two weeks again, but I will keed you posted on what is happening in my life here in beautiful Germany!!

One Week!!

One week in Germany! So much has happened already since I got here that it feels like I have been here a lot longer than that. I really am enjoying myself.
On Saturday I even got to go to a soccer game already. The mother of my host family was still gone, coming home from vaccation with the children, so the host father asked if I wanted to come. I was not about to decline the offer to go to a Bundesliega game. Hoffenheim 1899 was playing Beyern München. Hoffenheim is this small town team that has been doing really, really well lately and they made it up to the 'erste Liega' so everyone in this area supports them. The first goal came pretty soon. Beyern München scored, but Hoffenheim was quick to catch up. Nothing happened in the second half, but the fans were thrilled that the game had ended in a tie rather than losing. The moral was high!!
When we got home the rest of the family was also there. The kids where all ready for bed, but I was super glad to get to see them. I went and got the presents that I had brought, and
they liked there t-shirts so much that they wanted to sleep in them.
Sunday we went to church and had a nice, slow afternoon. I did find a nice running route, though I will still have to get used to running in this hilly area. Running at home on the flat prairie is defintly very different!! In the evening some of the youth from the church where playing volleyball nearby, so I went to join them. It was really fun and I was happy to get to know some peoplemy age around here.
Anyhow, it is rainning today and since it is not so warm we wanted to bake bread this afternoon.

I made it!!

By now I have been in Europe for five days! Our flight went well and though it seemed like we were travelling for forever, it was a good time to start getting to know the other trainees. There are twelve of us.
On Tuesday morning we arrived in Düsseldorf and took the bus to Mennorode Conference Center where we had a three day orintation. We also had time to hang out and Rook was played quite a bit.
On Friday morning (Aug. 7) we left for our placements. I arrived in Sinsheim at 4:35 pm. It was super hot and I was very happy to have made it to my destination.
Magdalene, the mother of my host family is on vaccation with the four children till later today, so Dietmar, the father of my host family picked me up from the train station.
I had the evening to myself, so I unpacked my suitcase and got my room, which is pretty much a small appartment organized. I have so much room in my little flat, that if you are ever in the area, feel free to drop by and say hello!! I feel like I brought way to much stuff, but now that it is here I may as well use it.
So far everything has been going really well. I have been welcomed with open arms and I feel that I will have a very good time here in Sinsheim. Once I figure out a good running route things will be even better. I am super excited to meet the kids leter on today.
